Since the start of his career in 2007, Shueh has traveled across the U.S. to cover diverse stories. This reporting has dealt with smart city developments in civic tech, open data, cybersecurity and the ever-evolving market of cloud solutions. Google, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Lyft, Uber, Airbnb are just a few companies that have been involved in this coverage.

Most notably, Shueh broke news of the WannaCry virus’ first attack on a U.S. government in 2017 when the ransomware attacked Chicago’s Cook County, locking up thousands of records for weeks. Shueh also played a pivotal role reporting on advances and disruption in federal IT procurement by government innovation group’s like 18F and the U.S. Digital Service.

His work in the tech space has allowed him to collaborate with civic tech groups on program developments, event coverage, thought leadership efforts and general news. Some of these organizations include Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Knight Foundation, Code for America, the National League of Cities and the Harvard Kennedy School’s ASH Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation.

Beyond hard news, Shueh has won awards for his long-form feature writing, winning Nevada Press Association awards in 2012 for Best Business Feature and Best News Feature. In 2011, the Nevada Press Association honored Shueh with awards for Best Business Feature and Best Spot News Story.

Before working in the tech sector, Shueh reported on diverse news beats. These stories included deadly runaway truck fires, undocumented immigration networks, bank robberies, humanitarian aid in Haiti and the impacts of oil and gas surges on local economies.

Shueh graduated from Brigham Young University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. He is bilingual in Spanish, living abroad in Chile for two years, and is an ardent advocate for cycling as a member in the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), the Bay Area Mountain Biking (BAMBi) and Mount Diablo Cyclists.

As a content strategist at Accela, a government tech company based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shueh envisioned and executed a content strategy for the company’s suite of digital solutions. This tied business goals to content plans and created a production process that involved collaboration from multiple departments. These efforts doubled year-over-year traffic to the company website, increased marketing leads, and contributed to significant increases in sales pipeline and share of voice metrics.

Shueh is certified in Google Analytics and holds multiple HubSpot certifications in the areas of content marketing, growth-driven website design, email marketing and social media marketing. In graphic design, Shueh is experienced with the Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, Audition, and others).
