Making Rank Worthy Content

The Process
On the surface, the steps are simple.

1.

Identify content gaps and opportunities in your marketing funnel.

2.

Unearth the search intents of your target audience that match those opportunities.

3.

Produce content that answers search questions and is superior to current content ranking in result pages.

Translation:
customer questions + your authoritative answers = higher rankings.

Behind the scenes, research ensures the content is the strongest bridge between what your audience wants and what makes sense for your brand.

Beyond SEO, the priority is to help your customers.
The Product
Once I have a list of all relevant content subjects, I create a series of what’s called "pillar + cluster" content (also known as parent and child content).
Basically, we create primary content pages (for example, a guide, article, playbook or blog) that cover general topics, and then we complement each piece of pillar content with its own set of specific articles within that same topic area.

The Process
The core element of link-worthy content is that it has to be newsworthy. This means the content has to be relevant, timely, and based on credible research. To get respected publications to link to your projects, I do three things:

Research what topics are compelling in your space, including what has worked in the past and what has yet to be explored.

Ideate around that gained knowledge, focusing on angles that are relatable and emotionally resonate.

C.

Develop original research and produce original studies and surveys that serve as the core of each content project.

The Result:

We get content ideas that are a blend of topical concepts (those relevant to your brand) and tangential concepts (those that are related but more general than your particular brand offering).

This provides us with a breadth of publisher options to pitch your content.

The Product:
I take the original research and create modern, compelling content that communicates a story effectively and authoritatively. This story telling can be done in a number of fascinating ways.
Examples include interactive media, infographics, full white papers, data visualizations and more.
